LungeForum 2020 - Virtuelt

Fredag, 30 Oktober 2020, 13:00 - 19:00

LungeForum 2020 - Virtuelt

13.00 - 13.15 Registration

13.15 - 13.30 Welcome by Boehringer Ingelheim

1. Session: Recent developments in treatment of cough

Chairman: Nina Skavlan Godtfredsen and Charlotte Suppli Ulrik

Cough is the most common respiratory symptom, yet we are far from understanding the full pathophysiological mechanisms behind chronic cough – let alone how to treat this troublesome condition. However new treatments are emerging for especially “cough hypersensitivity syndrome”. This session will provide insights into management of chronic cough from diagnostic work-up to current and future treatment modalities.

2. Session: Interstitial lung diseases in Connective tissue disorder - the way forward

Chairman: Elisabeth Bendstrup and Finn Vejlø Rasmussen
It is well known that connective tissue diseases such as scleroderma and rheumatoid arthritis can result in lung problems. Infections, drug-induced pneumonitis, bronchiectasis, and COPD are common while interstitial lung disease is rare but often the leading cause of death. Evidence based, approved treatment has been missing but new studies show that antifibrotic drugs can slow down disease progression. In this session we will have an update on the newest
data of CTD-ILD including new treatment options.

3. Session: Obesity and lung disease

Chairman: Charlotte Suppli Ulrik and Thomas Ringbæk

Obesity is associated with an increase in overall morbidity and mortality, but what is the impact of obesity on asthma and COPD?
This session will provide and update on lung mechanics in obesity and the clinical implications of obesity in the management of patients with asthma and COPD.

4. Session: Palliation, death criteria and ethics

Chairman: Finn Vejlø Rasmussen and Nina Skavlan Godtfredsen

In the first part of this session Dr. Ross Taylor will share her views and experiences on holistic approach to living and dying with severe COPD. She will touch upon subjects such as the difficult role of relatives as caregivers. Inappropriate use of medications that are not stopped when focus is changed from probable life sustaining to “end of life” palliation can be a major issue. And perhaps share an idea of a cheap, effective intervention without side
effects.
